Stage 4 Colon Cancer
I am dedicated to sharing information and insights about my 11-year battle against stage 4 colon cancer. Colon Cancer Real Talk is a platform to share strategies and tactics that are proven successful in managing this as a chronic disease.
Who We Are
To all colorectal cancer survivors and their families and friends, my name is Greg Metry. I am here to share my story in hopes of helping cancer patients and families battle this life-threatening disease.
I am not an expert in chemo regimens or medical terminology, but I will be speaking based on my experience. In my 11th year as a stage 4 colon cancer survivor, I decided to share my personal experience to help patients and families navigate their journey.
My Story
My colon cancer journey began in July 2012. I had a colonoscopy because of symptoms consistent with a slight tear in the colon lining. Minutes into the procedure, my doctor wheeled me back into recovery after not being able to insert the scope due to 95% blockage by a massive tumor.
Not only was this tumor malignant, it had spread to other parts of my body, including my lymph nodes, liver, and stomach lining. After my diagnosis, my journey included:
Radical remission
Soliciting multiple medical opinions and treatment options
Managing chemotherapy
Change in diet and lifestyle
Family support
Spirituality
Simple meditation
Personal research
